Independent Fabrication - Custom Frames of the highest level

Over the course of any cycling season, we here at Studio Velo hand deliver more Independent Fabrication custom frames than almost any other dealer in the world.

Our clients come from all over the country and even some from various parts of the world. Mostly recently we placed an order for a client from Guam. He chose the XS, IF’s top-of-the-line , mixed media frame of titanium and carbon fiber. Like many other frames orders placed at SV, this bike is as unique as the next.

One must realize that ordering a custom IF is as much about selecting the right material choice, ride quality desired and general geometric look and feel of each frames as it is about the final finish, the paint chosen and the decal location, color, and type, on the frame.

While I seek not to focus on the process, as this desires an entirely separate post, I wanted to showcase some of the most beautiful frames that have ever passed through our doors—in recent months anyway.

I wish we could take credit for the colors and designs of these beauties but all of the credit goes to the frame owners themselves. After all, they selected the paint (or not) the decals (or not) or painted logos, and so on.

I share with you not only a few photos of one of the XS frames in the production process right now, so you get a feel of how much love and care goes into building and painting a frame, but also the final results proudly crafted one frame at a time by the men and women of Sommerville, MA.

Here is my current bike (above), the Corvid built with Super Record, Edge wheels, etc -- sub 14lbs as shown!

And one of my favorite frames of all time, the XS. This ones sit on our showroom floor.
